‘There was no good way to help them and myself at the same time’
Remy Machado shares his experience of the 2021 Juniper Ridge wildfire with Diego Machado.
We are so excited to be collaborating with Thompson Rivers University students for a series created as part of the Climate Disaster Project, an international teaching newsroom coordinated at the University of Victoria.
These students, led by instructor Jennifer Chrumka, learned trauma-informed techniques for interviewing and working with survivors of climate disasters. Before the students undertook that work in the community, they interviewed each other, sharing their own experiences with climate change and what they think can be done about it.The Wren features stories from students and community members to illustrate how climate disasters both locally and globally are impacting Kamloops.
