Are you a fan of Little Free Libraries and Book Exchanges? It turns out Kamloopsians are, too.

Just in time for summer reading season, a new crowd-sourced map for Kamloops Little Free Libraries and Book Exchanges is here to help you find your next best read.

“It started simply as a way for me to keep track of the book exchanges I’d found around town, but it’s become a crowd-sourced resource,” Little Free Library steward Michele Wiens tells The Wren.

More than 50 locations are now listed, including Michele’s Little Free Library located in Pineview, which she started with her family a few years ago.

“I love reading, I love sharing, and I love treasure hunts — and book exchanges are a bit of all three.”

Official and registered Little Free Libraries are already tracked, but many local book exchanges are not.

“Once I started spotting other book exchanges around town, I knew I wanted to keep track — especially since I had received some generous donations of books and wanted to spread the love.”

The success of the resource even led to the creation of the Kamloops Book Exchanges & Little Libraries Facebook a couple weeks ago, Michele explains.

“Thanks to a request on the Zero Waste Kamloops (Facebook) group, suddenly a whole bunch of people who simply love Little Free Libraries wanted a way to get more information too,” she adds.

The map listings haven’t necessarily been approved by the steward or owner of the book exchange. To request changes or add a new location, email lfl62055@gmail.com.
